The tennis team won district in Boswell, Fort Worth on Oct. 20. The match was a close one, giving the Roos a 10-9 win. This is the first district championship in over two decades.
The team has been undefeated in districts this semester. They started practicing during summer break and haven’t stopped.
“We usually have lot of fun playing games on the bus,” junior Hailey Totem said.
The pre match routine consists of stretching and warming up together in a big circle and doing their team chant. Once they finish with stretching and warming up they break into their double teams and are prepared to face their opponents. If they aren’t playing they usually sit in the bleachers and cheer for each other until the team gets 10 wins.
The district match was led by Austin Markwardt and Aaron Hairston who also won their doubles and single matches.
With this fall season championship the team is excited and thrilled for the spring.
“We have been training physically with conditioning and also mentally,”
Sophomore Marissa Bosco said. “We are spending time learning where each of us best fit in the spring, it takes lots of in school and out of school work to prepare but overall just hoping the hard work will pay off in the spring.”
