• How are you involved at school?
I am involved in the cosmetology and barbering programs, NHS, dual credit courses, and I am the varsity tennis captain. Aside from these direct involvements in school, I also serve as a student representative on a district-level committee, and I was the sideline announcer when the Roo football team was at home on Friday nights.
• What advice do you have for an incoming 9th or 10th grader?
Incoming 9th and 10th graders, get involved in what you are interested in. Don’t fear judgement from others, and make the most out of your time at WHS, it goes by fast!
• What does Roo Nation mean to you?
Roo Nation to me, is a community who supports you in whatever you choose to do. I have felt support from my Roo family in all things- academics, sports, and as I begin my career as a cosmetologist. A tight-knit and encouraging group of people has been so important as I have made decisions about my future.
• What has been your favorite memory while at WHS?
My favorite memory from WHS is this past football season where I was able to watch the games and make announcements from the sidelines, chime in on Coyote Radio, help organize pre-game events, and participate on Homecoming Court!
• What are you looking forward to this year?
This year I am looking forward to all of the Senior things that are coming up. I am especially excited for prom, senior sunset, and graduation.
• Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspirations are my parents and my grandparents. I have grown up watching all of them make extra efforts to support me in everything, and I admire each of them more than they know.
• What are your plans after graduation?
After I graduate, I will attend Lubbock Christian University in the fall of 2025, where I will have about 2.5 years left until I earn my degree in business administration and management. While at LCU I plan to minor in missions, and hopefully take a few mission trips. I have also completed WHS’ cosmetology program and earned my cosmetology license, and I will graduate barber school before spring break. So while living in Lubbock I hope to get a job in a salon or barbershop, with the end goal of managing my own chair/suite.
• Favorite quote(s)?
My favorite Bible verse is John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” This verse is my favorite reminder that I have purpose and joy in the Lord.
