• How are you involved at school?
I am involved in Weatherford High School through the varsity basketball team that I have been starting on since my sophomore year, track where I have previously ran in relays, and this year I decided to try cross country to help my endurance for basketball and make me an overall better athlete. I am also a part of the PALs program which allows me to set an example of what it means to be a part of Roo Nation for the young Roos across Weatherford ISD.
• What advice do you have for an incoming 9th or 10th grader?
For any incoming 9th or 10th graders academically, I would say try not to procrastinate until the last minute, if you know you are a big procrastinator, take advantage of the calendar app on your phone to help you stay on top of deadlines. This will also help you be more organized. That was a big struggle I had coming into high school, I learned the hard way, and it will make your experience so much easier. Socially, take advantage of the clubs Weatherford has to offer, there is something for everyone and it’s a great way to meet so many different people. Don’t be scared to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.
• What does Roo Nation mean to you?
To me, Roo Nation means pride. There isn’t a single person I’ve encountered from this community that doesn’t want the best for all aspects of Weatherford ISD, and the town in general. Even when things don’t go our way in sports, or other extracurricular activities, no matter who it is, everyone still shows the same amount of pride.
• What has been your favorite memory while at WHS?
My favorite memory from high school has definitely been from this year, where we won our own Christmas tournament for the 1st time since 2016. Previously, we haven’t had much success in the lady Roo basketball program so being able to see our hard work from this offseason pay off, and accomplish something like that was so much fun to be able to celebrate with my coaches and teammates.
• What are you looking forward to this year?
This year, I am looking forward to graduation, and being able to spend the last couple months being a kid with my best friends and family. It’s hard to believe that I am already a senior getting ready for graduation, but I am so excited to see myself grow as a young adult.
• Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration is definitely my parents. They have always been my example of what it means to work hard through any kind of adversity. They never sugar-coded anything, have always taught me to have thick skin, and not to let anyone get in the way of my goals. I appreciate how much emphasis they have always put on me to be the best at whatever it is that I am trying to do, and have supported me 100% with anything I really wanted to pursue.
• What are your plans after graduation?
My plans after graduation are to attend Texas Tech University with a major is business, and minor in biology, with aspirations of becoming an Anesthesiology Physician Assistant.
