Of all the faces in the WHS and NGC library staff, one might seem particularly new.
Ariale Thomas.
Thomas comes from Joshua ISD as a testing coordinator at RC Loflin Middle School and a former elementary school teacher. With a passion for books and education, Thomas is dedicated to creating an engaging and welcoming environment for students to explore the world of literature and knowledge.
When asked about her favorite part of being a librarian, Thomas said, “Being able to discover new books and then share that with other people. That’s my favorite part.”
She shares her favorite book genre, saying, “I like fantasy. So right now, it changes all the time, but currently, my favorite book is Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.”
Thomas also discussed the challenges of managing two campuses, saying, “It is difficult only because I don’t get to learn the kids at one campus as fast.”
She also emphasizes the importance of updating the NGC library, saying, “We’re working really hard to update it so that the kids want to actually come, like they do at the WHS library.”
While acknowledging the difficulties, she remains optimistic about the opportunity to learn and grow in her new role as a librarian.
Thomas enjoys running, reading, and watching movies outside of work.
“I have four races coming up. I will be running a 12k in December, which prepares me for the half marathon in February.”
She also says she enjoys going to the movie theater at least once a month. “The best part of going to a movie is eating popcorn,” she said.
Thomas is dedicated to her role as a librarian and values the relationships she has built at WHS. She spoke highly of the other librarian Reca Moran, expressing her appreciation for support and collaboration.
Thomas is passionate about her work and committed to creating a positive learning environment for the students at WHS and the NGC.
“We’re kind of learning together about how we can make the library better,” Thomas said.
