Junior Lyrick Robinson agrees that WHS needs to promote Roos Eyes Open, a program for students to report crimes or suspicious activity in the school.
“I feel like if there is supposed to be an outreach for Roos Eyes Open, I feel as if there should be a poster in every hallway,” he said. “However, I feel like I rarely see them ever, and that’s why nobody uses it.”
You would think that if WHS wanted students to report suspicious activity, there would be posters everywhere. However, after thoroughly exploring the school, it was apparent that these posters were only displayed near the restrooms.
Taking restrooms entirely out of the equation, the following hallways don’t have any posters:
- Upstairs F Hall
- Downstairs F Hall
- Downstairs H Hall
- Downstairs K Hall
- E Hall
- Gym Hallway
- Trophy Case Area
There are 12 posters in total in the school. Half are by restrooms, two are by our admin offices, and three are tiny outside of classrooms like Charles Carroll’s, Renee Garvin’s, and Denise McMackin’s rooms.
“Where is the last one?” you may ask.
It is by the cafeteria but only to be covered mainly by a vending machine.
This proves how little our campus is concerned about Roos Eyes Open.
It would benefit WHS if a way to stop crime in our school were advertised more. We should have more posters, and the school should make more light of it.
