• How are you involved at school?
I am the current captain of the Weatherford Blue Belles, and am a loyal dual credit student that is on track to graduate with my associates. I am also involved in the NHS, as well as SNHS.
• What advice do you have for an incoming 9th or 10th grader?
My advice for an incoming underclassmen is that your time is limited, so don’t focus on only one part of high school. Go have fun with friends in your classes, don’t cut your social circle short, and talk to those who you might have ignored. You can do all this while also taking the classes you want to take. My only warning is that no grade goes away. If you are looking to apply to any college, it’s way easier to get in if you keep up with your grades and look out for your future.
• What does Roo Nation mean to you?
Roo nation is one of many people, talents, and skills, yet it is all used to promote our school, and our town. It is a means to express yourself and all you want to do with your life. It is a way to search for your calling, and make mistakes that ultimately set you on your path to your success.
• What has been your favorite memory while at WHS?
My favorite memory of WHS was during a black out pep rally during my sophomore year. It was the middle of the pep rally when the lights were about to go out, and cheer was about to perform. Buckner had walked over to our captain to tell her something when she asked if we could move out of formation (a big deal in Belles) when the drumline performed the “Roo Pride” chant. After taking a second to think about it, she decides against us leaving our formation. However, when the lights went off, and the drumline started playing, she did the unthinkable and told us that we could do that chant due to the lights being off. The excitement I felt in that moment is still unmatched to this day, as the belles got into two seemingly rehearsed lines and got to do the chant we’ve been begging to do all year.
• What are you looking forward to this year?
This year I am looking forward to my last year on Belles, dancing with my friends one last time, and leaving behind my mark. I’m looking forward to wandering through the halls for the last time, getting accepted into college, and making my exit on this chapter of my life.
• Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest motivation is my mother, as she has guided me to deciding what I want to pursue, motivating me when my confidence has shattered, and helping push me through my challenges. She has done this all while dealing with my two other siblings, and a classroom full of kids at her workplace.
• What are your plans after graduation?
My plans after graduation used to be so clear, but now that they’ve been muddled together I am not quite sure. As of right now, my plan is to attend A&M and obtain a bachelors in Biology and get my dental hygienist degree.
• Favorite quote(s)?
My favorite quote is one that is painted on my parking spot…“I have flaws, what are they? I sing in the shower, sometimes I spend too much time volunteering, occasionally I’ll hit somebody with my car, so sue me!”
