• What advice do you have for an incoming 9th or 10th grader?
Some advice that I have for an incoming 9th or 10th grader would be to get involved. I know that is something a lot of older classmen recommend, but it is truly something to consider if we are all saying it. Some of the best people and advisors I have made bonds with have been from joining extracurricular activities. Being involved in the school is such a good way to get out of your shell and especially being a younger student entering onto the big campus for the first time, it is a great way to become friends with older classmates and learn from them. Another piece of advice I have to share is to truly cherish your time. Don’t overload yourself with so many things to do because you want it to look good for college. Find a few things you really love and be good at them. You will thank yourself later when you can look back and see that you spent your time on the things that actually mattered and prioritized the people who bring the most value to your life.
• What does Roo Nation mean to you?
Roo Nation to me means an abundance of opportunity and an unbreakable bond of Roo Pride. Coming into this school my freshman year, I could tell that there was something unique about the Weatherford Roos just in how everyone cared for each other no matter what department within the school you are from. At Weatherford you can truly see how everyone in the school matters and plays an essential role in who Weatherford High School is and what the Roo Identity means. Without our loving and supportive student body, Weatherford High School would not be the spirited Weatherford Roos it is today.
• What has been your favorite memory while at WHS?
I do not have a favorite memory specifically at WHS, but I have a favorite collection of memories. My favorite memories have been within the walls of the yearbook classroom. Every person who dedicates their time to the creation of that book has been such a privilege to work with and has made me laugh in more ways than I can count. We keep it honest and comical which I think makes life better. There is not a day that goes by in that class where we are not laughing with each other. The family we have created is one that cannot be broken. I will truly miss all of them and the memories that we have created over the years.
• What are you looking forward to this year?
I am looking forward to finishing out the year strong and truly making every last moment count. Although the saying “life is short” is cliche, it truly is short and I don’t ever want to take any moment of it for granted because you truly don’t know when it will be your last. In my last year of high school I want to put emphasis on all areas of my life, go the extra mile in academics, experience all the senior events, and try new things to make the most of my final year.
• Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration would first be my Lord Jesus Christ, as He has guided me through the paths in life and into my purpose, secondly my mother who has been with me every step of the way and been my biggest cheerleader, and lastly the two teachers who have gone beyond what it means to be a teacher in supporting me and pouring their time out to me, Mr. Perkins and Mr. Ferguson.
• What are your plans after graduation?
My plans after graduation are to attend a four year university where I will major in political science and later on attend law school to become a lawyer.
