Adolescents are at an age where they are flooded with emotional and physical baggage carried to them through their personal and/or social lives. This is combined with school, family drama, and/or out-of-school jobs. On top of that, the coronavirus pandemic has caused catastrophic effects on the lives of every single individual on the planet, whether it involves their work, family, or school. The year 2020 has been a year like no other before; every single day will go down in the history books for future generations to learn from the present era.

However, this doesn’t exclude how the 2020 school year has been cut-short of all it’s exciting events (sports, pep rallies, school dances, etc…), which usually is the only gratifying moment for many students to participate in school. For the Class of 2021, this year is truly going to be a year they will never forget; whether that be because of how the world is rapidly changing and it is up to humankind to tolerate these new events, or because they are finally saying good-bye to their childhood in an unimaginable circumstance.

Furthermore, teenagers are growing up in a world where a person is judged by their accomplishments instead of their character. Since the beginning of their school careers, teenagers have been sculpted to resemble grownups and their problems, instead of chronologically figuring out their role in the world. Being able to carry this large load on an up and coming individual, can make them feel downhearted. The reasons being due to academic competition among student peers resulting in an overwhelming amount of stress. Additionally, adolescent stress is often neglected, and to reverse these effects, more attention needs to be directed towards students by their parents and teachers to help them cope with their abundant labor.

The uncontrolled future events of the world will leave a foretelling impression on their character by allowing them to experience the real world at first hand, instead of experiencing failure in the future. On a final note, an adolescent’s academic life combined with the emotional and psychological challenges facing their personal life all pinpoints a reason as to why adolescents are so stress-ridden.
