The Weather High School cosmetology program sent 39 students to compete in the cosmetology Skills USA competition, and 24 students placed in the days events.

Caylan Benge, Iva Kessler, and Ashley Pipkin were some of the days stand outs, taking third place in the community service category. Also, Maddison Roark, Donesha Evans, Hailey Bennett, Laura Mireles and Miriam Lopez each received the prestigious Superior Rating in their respective events.

“I am very proud of mine, Ashley’s and Iva’s accomplishment because we worked very hard and put in a lot of time,” senior Caylan Benge said. “But it’s not just about winning. We helped a lot of people and possibly changed their lives.”

Skills USA is an organization dedicated to insuring, “America has a skilled work force.”

“All students did a great job,” cosmetology instructor Danna Farmer said. “They represented WHS proudly.”
