New To The Mob: Mr. Gay

WHS has received many new staff members this year. To introduce the new, and some familiar, faces of the 2017-2018 school year, the Grass Burr staff has pieced together a collection of interviews to welcome our new members. Concluding our interviews is Mr. Nicolas Gay who has led the Roo Volleyball team to extensive victories this season.

Q: Is this your first year of teaching or coaching? If not, what school did you transfer from?

 

A: This is my 9th year teaching and 8th year as head coach. I came from Denton Ryan. I also coached at Colleyville Heritage, Sunnydale, Graham, and Rockwall-Heath.

 

Q: Did you have any previous jobs before coaching?

 

A: I worked at AT&T in business sales.

 

Q: What was your first impression of WISD?

 

A: Great community, support, and opportunity to help students achieve their goals.

 

Q: What subject do you teach and where?

 

A: I teach 6th grade pre-athletics at Tison and Hall Middle School. I also teach Health at Tison Middle School.

 

Q: Do you have a spouse or any children?

 

A: [My] Wife, Claire, is the head Volleyball coach at Aledo, and I have 22 month old twins. Their names are Riggins (boy) and Emme (girl).

 

Q: How are you going to do your part in making our campus a better and more enjoyable place to learn?

 

A: [I am] Going to run a Volleyball program that the community and the High School will be proud of through hard work, commitment, great leaders, and winning!
