A Successful Season for Winter Guards

Our Weatherford Winter Guards had an extremely successful season with several top finishes at competitions. The team is made up of students from Tison and Hall middle schools, NGC, and WHS who are then cast in their varsity and junior varsity teams to create productions that, as band director Justin Good put it, “were both beautifully artistic and full of excitement.”

When asked about their preparation and readiness, Mr. Good said, “We dedicate a lot of time and effort to make sure our productions are competitive and the students can perform well,” Good said when asked about their preparation and readiness.

“These students work so hard in class and in after-school rehearsals to learn and perfect their shows. At times it can be tough and tiring, but they push through and represent WHS well.”

The directors could not have been more excited with the results involving JV placing 3rd in Junior Class Finals for the WGI Virtual competition, 4th in NTCA Novice Class championships, and 2nd at MA Dance Nationals in the JR Division.

Varsity also had great success with a 6th place finish in WGI Virtual Finals, 9th in their class championships, and 2nd at MA Dance Nationals in the Senior Division, promoting 2 classifications in the National Circuit and missing finals by only .39.

“I am ecstatic to see the winter guards doing so well,” Good said “They performed at a high caliber and were rewarded for their work. As a teacher and director, it is wonderful to see students dedicate time and effort to a product and achieve great things because of it. We are very proud of our Weatherford Winter Guards and can’t wait to see what next incredible performances they will have next year.”
