The lights at Roo Stadium finally brightened, marking the opening to the year’s football season this past Thursday night when the Weatherford High School JV football team opened their season against Richland.  After a hard fought game, the Roos came up short, losing 8-26.

           Throughout the competition, the Roo defense played well, forcing two turnovers and holding the Rebel offense to a mere 12 points through the 3rd quarter.  The Roos did enjoy an offensive lift late in the game when juniors Zach Freeburg and Trey Ware connected for an eighty yard touchdown reception.  Immediately following the Roos’ lone touchdown of the evening, sophomore Noah JuVette scored the two point conversion.

           The JV Roos travel to Cleburne next Thursday for a 6:00 p.m. game against the Cleburne High School Yellow Jackets.
