french hornsDespite the humidity and the heat, the Mighty Roo Band is preparing for the annual Rodeo Parade. The parade starts today at 5:00 p.m. starting from the NGC and ending at Cherry Park.

“It’s tonight at 5:00 and we’ll be playing the Fight Song, and doing the marching thing!” said Cheyenne Hunt (’18).

When asked about what is the hardest part about practicing today, Dakota Galyean (’18) and Hunt both agree that it is the weather.

“The heat,” Galyean said.

“Definitely the heat,” Hunt agreed.

Lauren White (’18) had a different answer to the question.

“I would say the playing and marching because they are trying to bend their knees, and we don’t want them to,” White said.

Band Director, Mr. James Buckner encouraged the Mighty Roo Band by reminding them that both playing and marching are difficult tasks all on their own.

“Playing by itself is hard enough… Marching by itself is hard enough, putting it together is a real challenge. So practicing them separately is really important, but we’ve got to put it together.” Director Mr. Buckner said, “Good effort!”
