The Weatherford High School golf team is gearing up to start their 2014 season. Golf tryouts will be held next week at Sugar Tree Golf Course. According to Coach Dunsworth, these tryouts will be an opportunity for potential golfers to “hit around a few golf balls” to see if they are a good fit for the WHS team.
The current golf roster carries 23 current members who are preparing to play their first tournament on February 28th. Once the season begins, tournaments will continue through April.
Coach Dunsworth is pleased with his current team, and is quick to point out the strong character necessary to be successful as a golfer.
“Golf teaches you a little about yourself,” Dunsworth said. “It is one of the only sports that you have to call penalties on yourself. You have got to really play by the rules.”
