Weatherford High School will be having the first pep rally of the 2014-2015 school year on Friday, August 29. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m., and will be held in Durant Auditorium.

The football team’s first game of the season will be celebrated with a “Roo Pride” theme, and students and staff are encouraged to wear blue to show their support. Spectators should expect a dance-off, which will include a selected sophomore, junior, and senior, as well as a faculty member. According to Mrs. Hock, the festivities are sure to “drum up the spirit in the auditorium.”

The WHS Fightin’ Roo Band, the Blue Belles, and the WHS cheerleaders will both perform for the student body. The administration and the student leadership have been working hard to increase student engagement during pep rallies.

“A bit more student involvement is in the works for the upcoming pep rallies,” assistant principal Mr. Jones said.  “In the past we’ve shown off our teams and the band, so it’s time to make it more interactive for the audience.”

Students are encouraged to show up for tomorrow’s pep rally wearing “Roo” blue, and to take every opportunity to enjoy the new era of “Roo pride”.
